Art
Art in Sicily reflects the heritage of the island with many periods and styles on display.
Upto now the Sicilians have not promoted their treasures and much work and publicity has come from foreign experts who felt Sicily deserved a wider audience.
Many artists from Sicily left either voluntarily or were taken to work abroad, whilst some foreign artists were drawn to Sicily and it's creative environment.
There is still a very strong culture of artisian craftspeople, skills handed down from generation to generation.
The art here takes many forms;
Moda (Fashion), the home of Domenico Dolce from Dolce & Gabbana and other designers means creativity is constant with every little town still having the latest designer outfits available.
Ceramic art, still a flourishing industry offering many variations.
Folk art, traditional carts and puppets are still made and used.
Food, the heart of everything here.
Of course the art of hospitality, something which is wonderfully genuine.
